Strengths Strategy Team Coaching Circles are designed to invite Team Discovery graduates into a sustainable learning community, which allows for deepened understanding, integration of concepts, and strengths-based application in real time. Team Coaching Circles are based on 15 years of research done by Carter McNamara, MBA, PhD, with respect to action-based learning and informal learning through peer coaching. They are an inexpensive and effective tool for enhancing employee development.
Participants experience 90-minute monthly team/peer coaching sessions, conducted in small groups of 5-6 individuals. The groups are governed by an agreed upon strengths-based alliance, which provides a predictable set of norms and standards of operation.
During the monthly sessions, each individual has an opportunity to bring a particular need, challenge, or question to the group and experience coaching from the group. Facilitation of the group rotates between group members. Groups typically stay together from 6 months to 2 years, or longer, depending on the needs and desires of the group.
Strengths Strategy® provides a 3-session training process to transfer the leadership of Team Coaching Circles over to the individuals involved, and to prepare them to direct their own real-time learning. The first session provides an overview of the process and a design of the group, with the second and third sessions providing opportunities to experience the Strengths Strategy Team Coaching Circle process and to learn something about how to coach and facilitate the circles. Individuals who participate find that they have a forum for ongoing questions, growth, accountability, and increased development of strengths language and application to real problems, situations, and needs.
